Community Development Grant Program
Our congregation operates a program to invest in our local parks, trails and common spaces in our community. It is our belief that God has placed us in this community to be salt and light in very tangible ways. This is just a small way in which we are attempting to make a difference in the lives of the citizens of McDonald.
The Grant Project for 2010 was the purchasing and planting of twenty flowering crabapple trees and a great deal of shrubbary for the beautification of the Panhandle Trail in McDonald. The project is now complete with the help of many groups, business and individuals. We look forward to enjoying the beauty of these trees and shrubs for years to come. The trees are pictured to the left of this article but better yet take a walk or ride on the trail and see them for yourself!
Additional projects have included: Purchasing picnic tables for the new pavilion in Heritage Park, financing treatments for trees planted along the Panhandle Trail, and contributing to the memorial plaza in Heritage Park.
For 2015 we plan to assist the McDonald Parks and Recreation committee in purchasing and installing new signage for Heritage Park.
